The way it works is in the normal trivia night, the game is played over five hours of the same ten questions. Each correct answer will earn your team one point, resulting in a potential 50 points for an exemplary game.
However, the fun doesn't stop there. There's more. NYC Trivia League adds an additional level of challenge with its bonus points system. Every day the top 25 teams receive additional points. The highest 10 teams earning bonus points and the next 15 receiving 3. Over the course of the week the top 50 teams also receive bonus points, with the top 25 receiving 10, and the following 25 getting 5.
For the calculation of your overall score in the league, we first take your score as a base and then adjust it to a 100-point scale in consideration of the bonus points 15 which are awarded each week. A perfect initial score of 50% is multiplied 85 times, and then the bonus points are added in order to make it a total of 100.
